Preventing Septic Issues
Septic systems are required to be pumped and inspected every 3 years, per the county.
Regular inspection will keep your system in good working order. We recommend to only flush one ply toilet paper. The leading cause of problems with septic systems, pumps and filters is letting items that are NOT biodegradable be flushed down your toilet or drains. Examples are:

Flushable wipes - even if they say 'SEPTIC SAFE'

kleenex, baby wipes, feminine products
-
coffee grounds, egg shells, cooking oil or grease
Basic common sense can probably help save your system from early failure. If in doubt, don't flush items or rinse down the drain. Use your garbage disposal wisely. A disposal can double the amount of solids added to a septic tank.​
Extend the life of your drainfield by:

use washing machine / dishwasher for full loads only

check faucets and toilets for leaks

don't let the water run while you do dishes or brush your teeth

limit long showers or baths
